An experienced Prescribing Practice Nurse, Jenna has been nursing for 17 years between Northern Ireland and Australia, with 9 of these years within primary care settings.
During the last 5 years within General practice she has completed chronic disease management diplomas including all respiratory modules- Asthma, COPD & Spirometry and in 2020 graduated from the Independent Supplementary prescribing course.
Now most of Jenna's time is focused on the assessment and management of patients with respiratory diseases in primary care, with a specialized interest in the management of the Asthma Patient. She spends most of her time ensuring patients (and carers), newly diagnosed and old, well understand the disease process (in layman's terms) as well how their medications work. Jenna feels that this is the cornerstone in the ongoing management of their care and when patients understand their disease process it makes their self management so much easier.
Jenna works to improve education within the school environment on managing asthma and standardising the review process to ensure patients throughout the country receive an equal and high standard of care and as per the NRAD 2014 report, making a difference moving forward to reduce the risk of asthma exacerbations and death.
